Frantic Mutterings
By: Megan T.
There is a noise that constantly hums and buzzes at the back of our minds. And in some cases, this voice speaks louder to other people as compared to ourselves.
The question is: at which point does it cross the line of danger? This piece portrays the haphazard decisions caused by deteriorating minds, in turn increasing the disorder in one.

Wonderings: Does each colour have a different personality? What would it be like for them to be alive and interacting with us? What would it be like for all the colours that touches us to whisper their own thoughts and suggestions into our ears? Would our worlds become even noisier than it already is? Or would it not effect us at all?
The colours were decided based on how a particular prompt word made me feel, I worked as if I was assigning each colour a different personality. For example, usually I would associated the feeling of fear with a particular shade of blue that is close to purple.
In this case, I associated the word schizophrenia with colours that both contrasted yet somehow complimented each other, such as blue and red, and orange and green. This showing the many different contrasting opinions that constantly flow in minds, that somehow sometimes coincidentally work well together. the unknown, confusing, frankly frightening and sometimes even surprising feeling.
On top of that, I also added streaks of gold in the background to highlight the franticness and erraticness brought about by all of the noisy chatter that constantly crowds in minds, sometimes, louder for others than it is for us.
Through this piece, I wanted to depict the complications in having so much noise in one's mind, and the inability to properly express oneself. I wanted to portray the blatant frustration yet sheer helplessness in this situation. while keeping in mind that it still had to be a subtly powerful message that would not scare people away within the first few seconds- in other words, it had to be kid-friendly too.
